In Towne Marina Lake Waconia Plowing Update - 2/21/19

We’ve been plowing all day today, Thursday 2/21 to open up our normal lake roads we’ve established all winter. The roads are narrower (especially to Cemetery Reef) than before, as the banks are much higher due to all the recent snow. If you are planning on going off road, it is extremely difficult. It’s a must to have a 4-wheel drive truck and probably chains too. To this point, there have been numerous anglers who have gotten stuck off road, so be prepared.

As hard as it is for us to say, if you’re hoping to bring the wheelhouse out this weekend, we are not recommending it unless you have a plow of your own and are prepared for all the snow and blowing snow that’s expected to come.

If you have a house on the lake now, it may be time to start considering pulling it off the lake while we have our good roads open. It’s going to get nothing but worse with the predicted snow this weekend and especially the high winds forecasted (20 to 30 mph with gusts over 40 on Saturday night and Sunday). We expect our current roads to blow shut by Saturday evening and we will not be plowing them open again until conditions settle. We hate to be so negative, but the reality is, it’s going to be tough to get around and especially to move a house on or off the lake.

If you’re plan is to move your fish house closer to shore, we hope that you consider just taking it home with you. We can’t have fish houses stacked in front of the marina as we have very little space that is plowed and need to keep those areas open. Thank you!
