We headed out on Lake Waconia today to get a current ice report. The snow on the lake is still holding back consistent ice growth. Shockingly, in deeper snow drifts 5 to 5 1/2” of ice is still too common. In the moderate drifts ice thicknesses are in the 6 to 7” range. Where there is no or minimal snow We are finding 9 to 10” or sometimes more. We are seeing some liquid slush in areas that have deeper snow that had a crack run through it flooding the area. There is no freeboard in the areas with thinner ice, so water will come up above the ice in those spots.
We will not be putting our rental houses out this weekend because of the variable ice. We will update you when we will be able to do so!
