In Towne Marina Lake Waconia Fishing Report - 5/14/24

We hope everyone had a great Fishing Opener, Mother’s Day weekend and got to enjoy the Northern Lights display! There was a lot to like about the last 4 days. Fishing Opener was a success for many. We had numerous reports of solid walleye activity in the early hours of the opener with a wide range of sizes being caught. Fathead minnows and large leeches were the most common bait used, although artificials like shallow-running Rapalas were good too. 6 to 10 feet of water has worked during late evening and early morning times. If you’re only able to get out during the day, it’s still possible to catch a few, but move deeper with abundant sunshine we’ve had lately. Bass activity has been strong as well on a wide variety of lures and baits. They haven’t been too picky. Keep in mind it’s catch and release only until Bass opener on 5/25/24. There have been some northern pike being caught and even a few reports of muskies too. Muskie season doesn’t open until 6/1/24. As for crappies and sunfish, we expect the sunfish bite to pick up as water temperatures continue to increase into the mid-60’s this week. Crappies this spring were slow starting but picked up some when weather allowed. We aren’t seeing the typical slab crappies we are used to in the spring, but it’s doable to get some keepers with a little effort.

We are currently open Monday through Friday from 11 am to 7:30 pm. On Saturday and Sunday, we are here from 8 am to 7:30 pm. Gas dock hours end at 7 pm for now. We will be increasing our hours soon!
